How are technological advances inspired by swarming animals?
Project Swarm is a website about Swarm Intelligence that I made back when I was 17.
It's an interactive website - start by reading the Abstract, and use the links in the bar across the top of the page to progress from there. You could download a printer-friendly version of the essay, but then you'd be missing out on the videos and my swarm simulation!
The swarm simulation uses HTML5 canvas, so it needs a modern browser to work. Chrome and Firefox are pretty good. Here's the swarm app that I built:
Click on the image to open, drag the slider to increase the number of boids, and to close click outside the box. Read Chapter 2 to learn more about the app. The website uses Shadowbox and Disqus. All images used are in the public domain.
